Under the direction of the Child Center Director, the Lead Teacher has the overall responsibility for the education, care and developmentally appropriate assessment of individual and groups of children. The Lead Teacher provides a model classroom environment that is nurturing and safe, articulates good early childhood practices, and coordinates classroom teaching staff. The Lead Teacher orients, trains, supervises and evaluates practicum students, provides on the job training for associate teachers and assistant teachers and volunteers. The Lead Teacher assumes the professional responsibility for planning a program and for implementing a curriculum consistent with NAEYC accreditation criteria and with State Licensing /Paths to Quality Level 4 regulations. The Lead Teacher facilitates the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth of all children assigned to his or her care.
