Ministry Job Description
A. POSITION: Associate Pastor (Student Ministries)
B. DATE: June 30, 2012
C. ASSUMPTIONS:
1. If according to Barna studies, 43% of the people who accept Christ do so before the age of 14, then children and youth must be a priority in KAC
2. Youth can have a powerful influence on their community and world
3. We can’t expect youth to see the importance of using their time and talents in the body as adults, if we have not nurtured it in them as children and youth, and given them the opportunity
4. Youth need to see godly models; therefore the pastoral staff must model a Great Commandment & Great Commission heart and lifestyle
5. Meaningful relationships are a vital part of discipleship and spiritual growth
6. It is the task of the pastoral staff to inspire, equip, & coordinate the people of KAC to do the work of ministry, not to do it for them.
7. We must constantly be thinking of “points of entry” for new people to connect and have a sense of “belonging”.
D. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop a Youth program that:
 Actively reaches out to the unsaved youth in our city
 Provides a means of discipleship for our Christian youth to grow deeper, challenging them to be an influential leader in their community for Christ
 Encourage an attitude of servanthood by channeling the students into various ministries
 Create a heart for missions by providing various missions opportunities
 Utilizes a “team” ministry approach
Within the Youth Program
 Head up the Youth team, overseeing and planning all aspects of the youth program
 Recruit and train volunteers/teachers to work with youth
 Oversee the youth budget
 Create a website/face book page for the Kiel Alliance Youth Program
 Work towards separating the Middle School and High School Youth into their own groups
 Develop a scope and sequence and choose a 3 year rotating curriculum for the Middle School Sunday School program and a 4 year rotating curriculum for the Sr. High Sunday School program
 Be familiar and continue to develop the “think orange” philosophy of ministry.
• Develop a College/Young Adult Program that:
 Provides a means for college and career aged young people to connect with one another for the purpose of:
a) building relationships
b) discipleship
c) evangelism
d) ministry
• Oversee the Student Ministries Building
 Give over site to the “Outlet” and the student ministries that take place in our coffee shop/student center throughout the week.
• Other ministries as determined by the needs and growth of the church, your time and your interest
