Reports to: Director of Worship, Music & the Arts Works closely with: worship and music staff, worship music team, musicians and pastors Responsible for: All musicians and technical crews involved in contemporary worship services and special programs. Responsibilities: Essential Roles: 1. Develop the liturgical flow and select music, prepare band/arranging and orchestrating of contemporary worship services. 2. Coordinate and lead music in contemporary worship services in conjunction with the preaching pastor and the Director of Worship, Music & the Arts. 3. Oversee the selection and rotation of musicians and worship leadership in the contemporary services. 4. Prepare and rehearse music with the worship ensemble and other performers as is necessary, and supervise and develop the volunteer musicians. 5. Coordinate with facility manager and the sound and projection teams in preparation for worship. 6. Maintain current knowledge and practice of contemporary worship. 7. Recruit and supervise contemporary worship team volunteers to participate in the various aspects of service preparation, media preparation and setup of the worship facility. 8. Oversee guest artists participating in contemporary worship services. 9. Work with the Worship Administrative Assistant to see that the bulletin and other materials are prepared. Basic Duties: 1. Efficiently carry out all administrative duties of the position, including prompt response to correspondence, voice mail and email, and appointment schedules. 2. Stay current with job related technical training as required. 3. Work with volunteers as needed or assigned. 4. Encourage those involved in the worship and music ministries to participate and perform out of love for Christ and his people. 5. Maintain a high level of personal integrity and confidentiality with sensitive information. General Responsibilities: 1. Work collaboratively with other staff towards ministry vision and goals, in cooperation with staff values and norms, in observance of the Employee Guidelines Manual, and with respect of confidentiality. 2. Engage in opportunities for ongoing spiritual growth, including personal retreats and follow-up, worship, staff retreats, Bible study, spiritual mentoring, etc. 3. Assist as needed in the selection and upkeep of equipment and supplies. 4. Work in cooperation with Director of Worship, Music & the Arts in the planning and management of the worship and music budget. Evaluation: This position is evaluated annually by Director of Worship, Music & the Arts. A written report is prepared of this evaluation and signed by the Contemporary Worship Leader and the Director of Worship, Music & the Arts. During the course of the evaluation, the Job Description shall be reviewed and needed alterations discussed.
